Late Afternoon 8×10

There is no doubt in my mind that Eyvind Earle would be thrilled to know that his life as a fine artist had such an impact on the art world, and especially on a young Ohio boy, who now pays homage to him. Although Earle passed in 2000, he is still widely collected and the 14 year old boy he inspired 45 years ago, is as successful and widely collected as Earle. It’s too bad these two could not meet today.

I met a little boy in my gallery today, who was visiting with his mom and brother and saw the awe in his eye when he looked at Clifford T. Bailey’s paintings. His proud mom quickly presented an image of a little bird painting on her cell phone that her 7 year old Jacob recently created. I was impressed and see a new artist in the making—he someday may pay tribute to Clifford T. Bailey . . .  and the cycle goes on.

It’s important to inspire others and show them the possibilities.  Make one of your New Year resolutions to take children to art events, galleries and museums.  It will make a difference in their life and doesn’t cost you anything but time.  Happy New Year!
