Raku by Tony Heslop

Clay tableware by Tony Heslop

If you have ever visited Colorado Springs and its historic district ,Old Colorado City, there is a good chance you know the name Tony Heslop.  Tony is the preeminent potter known by thousands of collectors of his fine clayware.

For thirty years he sold his work year-round at one location in Old Colorado City and at a variety of art festivals. The the day came when that long-term relationship ended with clients because the gallery closed.  (Hey, we all need to retire sometime!)  Within a few weeks, Hunter-Wolff Gallery was already stocked up in Tony’s inventory and making his customers happy.  They only had to walk one block away from the closed gallery to find Tony was in full swing at 2510 W. Colorado Avenue.

Tony is an amazing artist and potter.  He wants anyone who loves pottery to be able to have at least one piece of his work.  Pricing is as important to him as the right form and glaze color.  Affordability has been his mantra for decades.  “Make it well; make it affordable.” And, we add, “Make it in America!”

If you are looking to spruce up your office, home or find a great gift for any occasion, think about pottery.  It is the perfect three-dimensional art to accent a room or give as a gift.  His functional ware styles please anyone with cooking skills and his Raku designs are unique and stunning for a mantel or on the floor.  You decide.

Come explore Tony Heslop’s pottery and check what Hunter-Wolff Gallery’s website but be sure to call to see if something slipped in the door before it was posted on his webpage.  We receive new work from Tony every week and believe me, it doesn’t last.

We ship Tony Heslop pottery everywhere in the US.  If you find something you want for a gift, call 719-520-9494 to get your order shipped in time for the holidays or a special event.

DSC_4698I am a believer in timing is everything or almost everythingAnd, it is time husband and wife potter-partners, Curt and Robyn Elliott, made their debut to the world.  These two very talented artists have been methodically working their clay, developing new designs and glazes for years primarily in their home territory while quietly offering their wares to family and friends and a short-list of pottery collectors.  That is until they joined Hunter-Wolff Gallery!  There will be no more soft introductions for Curt and Robyn.

Whether an avid collector of pottery or not, if you love the feel and look of pottery, you will have to explore their collection.  This is a discovery you don’t want to miss. We are quickly building a beautiful collection of Raku vessels with unique-glazes, shapes, and colors.  It is amazing what four hands, two sets of eyes and two creative minds can deliver together.  If you happen to be travelling and flying to or from Colorado Springs Airport, be sure to take a moment to see the two display cases featuring Curt and Robyn Elliott’s Raku pottery, then hustle over to Hunter-Wolff Gallery with your comments and an opportunity to touch the pieces we have on display.  Each piece is exquisite work and the perfect accent for whatever you enjoy collecting.  You might even be moved to pick up a peice for a gift.

Tell us what you like about their pieces … the horse-hair glazes, the textured coppery shades of blue, violet and red that sparkle and glitter, or some other appealing feature?
