Morning Glory

Glass shimmers and shines, sparkles and twinkles.  It has a life of its own.  When an artist combines a painted scene with these  attributes, there is magic.  And, the artist who makes magic like no other glass artisan is Gary Vigen. He begins with sheets of stained glass with swirls, streaks and wisps of color running through the glass, for the perfect combination for his landscape overlay.  After selecting the glass which becomes the background, foreground and focal point of his work, he “paints” a peaceful scene of trees, fences, and birds—just the right elements for his magical pieces.

Gary is an accomplished sketch artist and draws/paints with precision to layer on the colors, layer by layer.  Each layer is fired in his kiln to permanently fuse to the sheet of stained glass, cooled and ready for the next layer of color until the process is complete.  Here are the results of some of his incredible work.  We currently have 28 pieces of Gary’s work displayed from 3” x 4” pieces framed for a big picture look to large 20” x 10” paintings, double-matted and framed for a major-Wow wall hanging.

There isn’t a room that can’t display these magical pieces, in a grouping or  as a single focal piece—they are easy to display and require little care other than a dusting and secure location.   We hope you will consider something different in your art collection that will keep your guests asking questions about your findings.  We think Gary Vigen’s stained glass paintings are a class, glass-act!  What do you think?
