SHEILA MARIE

Hunter-Wolff Gallery is excited to offer Sheila Marie’s original oil paintings through the gallery and online. Sheila’s interest in art began with a school crush in 5th grade. A cute little boy, who drew wildlife and mountain scenes, was her love interest. She recalls that while she was pining away for him that she thought if she could draw too, he would notice her. Well, he didn’t take notice, but she did discover a new love—drawing and later, painting.

Some years after she married and raised her children, she started a new creative adventure owning a custom stained-glass business. Her new business offered Sheila the creative outlet she was missing, designing and fabricating stained glass for custom home builders. One thing led to another and she began teaching stained glass and selling stained glass patterns to hobby outlets.

Later, Sheila accepted a position managing a fulfillment plant and stayed involved in artistically creative work where she designed the fabrics that were used on the products her company manufactured until 2004.

Bigger things were about to happen, however, when she rediscovered an old box of Grumbacher oils in her basement from years ago. Her creative nature triggered her to pull out those oils and take her first class at the Denver Student Art League. Slowly she began to follow her true passion and pursue the need to create. Painting, she says, allows her to feel the excitement of learning and growing again. Sheila took that big step and dove into the stimulating journey of painting. We urge you to spend time exploring Sheila’s work and enjoying her diverse subject matter.
