March 8 - A Classical Start: Creating on Canvas with Sheila Marie

Description:

Add "A Classical Start: Creating on Canvas" to your calendar for Saturday, March 8 from 1-4 pm and learn about Sheila Marie's secrets for success. Sheila will be set up at her easel for a free learning experience using oil paints. Watch as Sheila begins a painting using the classic method of "grisaille". Grisaille (pronounced "gree-zai") is a painting technique that uses shades of one color for example, primarily shades of grey. This method gives the artwork a look similar to a black-and-white photograph.  It's mainly used to focus on the play of light and shadow without the distraction of color. Grisaille can stand alone as its own style of art or be used as the first layer or underpainting in a painting, setting the stage for adding colors later. We look forward to seeing you during this free learning experience at Hunter-Wolff Gallery. Light Refeshments.
